A comprehensive study on timing of marriage in Vedic astrology
Author(s): Jagannath Acharya and Rudresh M Shastri
Abstract: This study presents an in-depth analysis of the timing of marriage in Vedic astrology, aiming to establish a comprehensive and reliable methodology for predicting the ideal time for marriage. The research is divided into two primary objectives: firstly, to simplify and analyze classical and modern methods across various astrological systems to create a master solution for determining the timing of marriage; and secondly, to develop a new formula integrating multiple astrological principles, including planetary positions, lunar cycles, and transit influences. The study utilizes a large dataset of marriage age trends from India, spanning from 1980 to the present, providing insights into evolving societal norms. Additionally, the research incorporates the traditional Falit Jyotish system, emphasizing the importance of planetary combinations, Nakshatras, and other factors in predicting marriage timing. The methodology involves analyzing the Dasha system and planetary transits, such as the position of Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn, in determining the optimal time for marriage. The findings suggest that the transit of Rahu, along with the positioning of the Sun and other planets, plays a significant role in pinpointing the marriage year and month. Furthermore, the study integrates insights from various classical texts, such as the Narada Samhita, Brihat Parashar Hora Shastra, and Jaimini Sutra, to provide a holistic view of the factors influencing marriage timing. The study concludes that a combination of several astrological parameters, rather than relying on a single factor, provides the most accurate predictions for marriage timing. This comprehensive approach offers a valuable tool for astrologers and individuals seeking guidance on marriage timing.
