Author(s): Sindhura AS, Naveen BS and Dr. Acharya Annamalai Raj
Abstract: The horoscope is the blue print of the whole being, reflecting the complex interaction of the body, mind and the soul. By the complimentary combination of the Kaalachakra (The wheel of time) and Rashichakra (The circle of zodiac) and thereby distinguishing various ailments on various organs as indicated by the zodiac circle, a diagnostic methodology has been instituted by Medical Astrology. Medical Astrology claims that all the planets showcase particular body part or a group of parts. The dasha (Period and subperiod) and unfavorable transit of planets results in health issues in that part of the body the planet represents. In this case study, a patient with the diagnosis of Left Retinal detachment with bilateral intraocular vitreo retinal scarring who has underwent left retinal detachment surgery is studied based on planetary combinations and afflictions in the natal horoscope. The planetary placements, combinations and afflictions at the time of surgery is studied to analyze the prognosis of the surgery. In Ayurvedic literature, Chaturtha Patalagata Timira (Corresponding to retinal detachment in contemporary ophthalmology) is classified as Asadhya (Incurable) and is considered under Linganasha. The condition was addressed with a conservative Ayurvedic approach using Guru Rasayana, Saptamrita Loha, Mahatriphala Gritha and Sunetra eye drops. The following medications are advised to support the ocular health; however, based on astrological analysis, the prognosis indicated an incurable condition, aligning with the lack of symptomatic relief observed.
