Abstract: This paper explores the integration of Vastu Shastra the ancient Indian science of architecture with the urban and architectural planning of Jaipur, famously known as the Pink City. The primary objective is to examine how Vastu Shastra principles were applied in Jaipur’s layout, building orientations, and functional zoning, as well as to assess the harmony between traditional architectural wisdom and practical design aesthetics. The study relies on textual analysis, architectural interpretations, and spatial mapping of historical landmarks and urban structures across Jaipur. Through the lens of Vastu’s core elements Pancha Bhootas (Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space) and directional zoning Jaipur's architecture is analyzed in terms of room placement, energy flow, and environmental alignment. The results highlight how Vastu’s cardinal and intercardinal direction-based planning shaped the placement of spiritual spaces, residential quarters, commercial hubs, and public zones. For instance, temples and water bodies are predominantly located in the northeast, aligning with the water element and spiritual purity, while residential and administrative buildings are placed in the southwest for stability. Jaipur’s famed structures such as Hawa Mahal, Amber Fort, City Palace, and Jantar Mantar embody a synthesis of Rajput, Mughal, and Vastu traditions. The city’s orthogonal grid system, road alignments, and strategic zoning align closely with Vastu’s city planning blueprint. In conclusion, Jaipur demonstrates a remarkable confluence of spiritual science and pragmatic design. While rooted in Vastu, its architecture is not dogmatic; instead, it reflects adaptive innovation that respects traditional values while accommodating royal, climatic, and functional needs. This reinforces Vastu Shastra’s potential relevance in modern urban design.
